Groups & Emphasis

Here you will find a description of what each group will work on for the session


D Group:

  • Proper body line & head position for the 4 main stroke (Free-FR, Back-BK)      
  • Introduction to kicking
  • Building endurance through kicking
  • Ready position           
  • Streamline
  • Introduction to dive start progression (usually from the side)
  • Learning to use the pace clock and leaving :05 apart

 

C Group

  • Building on the group D emphasis
  • Introduce Breast (BR) and Butterfly (FLY)
  • Continued work on body line & head position for all strokes
  • Developing timing and coordination of breathing w/ kicking and pulling
  • Continued progression of starts (long shallow dive & streamline glide)
  • Developing ready position and streamline

 

Group B

  • Building on the group C emphasis with focus building more endurance
  • Introduction to racing turns (flip turns and open turns) for all strokes
  • Introduction to intervals
  • Diving from the blocks

 

Group A

  • Building on Group B emphasis
  • Emphasizing proper techniques and body positions for all strokes
  • Being able to use intervals in training
  • Learning about what comes next, the competitive team!
